Network specialist Ciena has upgraded Bharti Airtel’s i2i submarine network, which spans from India to Singapore.
The vendor has supplied packet optical and network management solutions across the 3,200 km long, high-capacity cable and leveraged 100G ROADM-based infrastructure.
The upgrade has enabled Bharti to increase capacity over the i2i cable and respond to demand for data services.
“This upgrade is an excellent example of how the sophistication of Ciena’s converged packet optical and unified management solutions can help transform our customer’s networks to seize new business opportunities,” said Ryan Perera, country head for India at Ciena.
“Working with submarine operators to understand the demands being placed on their cables has given Ciena the expertise needed to help our customers scale their networks intelligently, turning new capacity rapidly into new sources of revenue.”
Ciena’s network management solution provides increased intelligence to the i2i cable, enabling point-and-click service provisioning to enable faster service turn-up and end-to-end visibility of network performance.
This month, Ciena unveiled several additions to its network solutions portfolio, designed to give operators greater visibility and control over the network.
