Reliance Jio selects Viom Networks infrastructure

Reliance Jio Infocomm has today announced a partnership with Viom Networks to use its infrastructure for the roll-out of telecoms services across India.

The two companies have signed a Master Services Agreement (MSA), which will see Reliance Jio use Viom Networks’ pan-India footprint of more than 42,000 telecoms towers.

“This agreement is in line with our mission of a pan-India launch spanning next-generation voice and data services and leveraging existing telecoms infrastructure,” said Sanjay Mashruwala, MD at Reliance Jio.

Reliance holds a unified 4G licence and is working on a nationwide network to deliver next-generation, high-speed data services in India, which the company believes is hugely underserved.

Reliance expects the partnership with Viom Networks to further its strategy of providing anytime, anywhere access to communications services for customers in key domains such as education, healthcare, security and entertainment.

“From a conventional tower company, we are transforming ourselves as an innovation driven, data-centric infra-solutions provider,” said Syed Safawi, CEO at Viom Networks. “Our consistent delivery of high network uptime, on-time reliable project delivery capability and optimal operation offers a great value package.”

In December last year, Reliance Jio signed a deal with Bharti Airtel to share inter and intra-city optic-fibre networks, submarine cable networks, towers and internet broadband services.
