Time Warner Cable awarded Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification

Time Warner Cable has received Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification for its wholesale E-access services, from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

Time Warner has now earned certifications for eight service configurations, becoming the first North American company to do so.

“As North America’s first and only provider with all eight CE 2.0 certifications, Time Warner Cable business class provides reliable, scalable, and feature-rich Ethernet services,” said Phil Meeks, executive VP and COO at Time Warner Cable business services.

“MEF is the recognised defining body for Carrier Ethernet and their certification provides assurance that we’re delivering high performing, standards-compliant solutions to meet the complex networking needs of our customers.”

The news follows the announcement that US conglomerate Comcast plans to submit its application for its proposed takeover of Time Warner Cable to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by the end of March this year.
