Interoute brings VDC platform to Italy

Interoute has expanded its virtual data centre (VDC) platform to Milan, Italy.

The move marks the sixth European data centre to host VDC, with the platform also available in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva and Berlin.

VDC, a private and public cloud computing platform built into the company’s pan-European MPLS/IP network, was first launched in 2012.

Estimated at $1.35 billion in 2013, the European cloud computing market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 66% between 2012 and 2018, according to Frost & Sullivan.

The company’s research analyst Shuba Ramkumar believes Interoute’s public and private cloud offering is “unmatched by any of its competitors in the European market”.

“The company’s comprehensive cloud offering has established it as a leader in what is a rapidly growing market for cloud solutions,” he added.

Earlier this month, Interoute also opened a new data centre in Madrid, Spain.
