Kuwaiti operator Zain has reportedly appointed a new chief strategy officer and a chief commercial officer. Both positions are effective immediately.

Emre Gurkan has been nominated as Zain’s new chief strategy officer. He leaves Dubai-based Oger Telecom – which holds controlling stakes in Turk Telekom and Cell C – where he held a similar position.

The operator has also appointed Albert Fernandez as chief commercial officer. Fernandez previously held senior roles at VimpelCom and MTN.

In September last year, Zain’s CEO Fraser Curley stepped down from his position and was replaced by Hassan Kabbani.
