Telefónica Vivo partners with Coriant to expand network

Brazilian market leader Telefónica Vivo has partnered with Coriant to drive network expansion and increase capacity on its optical backbone network.
Telefónica Vivo’s agreement with the supplier of optical networking solutions supports its plan to enhance end-user services and deliver a network that offers better broadband connectivity, while reducing total cost of ownership.
“The reliability and scalability of our optical service infrastructure is critical as we continue to introduce new and innovative digital services to consumer and business customers throughout Brazil,” said Leonardo Capdeville, director at Vivo. “These new services require flexible and resilient connectivity, and always-on performance.
The deal follows the news that Brazilian antitrust watchdog, Cade, told Telefónica it should exit its direct and indirect stake in rival operator TIM Participações earlier this month.
