Telstra Global to launch PoP in Interxion data centre

Australia’s Telstra Global will launch an additional PoP at Interxion’s AMS7 data centre in Amsterdam in December of this year.

Interxion’s AMS7 data centre is only in phase one of its operation and the state-of-the-art facility was deemed as an attractive option for the Australian operator, as it looks to increase its presence in the European market.

AMS7 is part of a data centre campus in the Schiphol-Rijk area of Amsterdam, where it is connected to four other data centres.

Speaking exclusively to Capacity, Mike Hollands, director of the connectivity segment at Interxion, said: “What that means is that Telstra Global can go into AMS7 and easily serve not just other potential clients in that data centre, but other clients throughout the whole campus.”

Telstra Global is a key player in the Asian market, and with Interxion’s well-established network of data centres across Europe, Hollands expects the partnership between the companies to address the growing demand for connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Telstra Global launched PoPs in Interxion’s London and Stockholm data centres in October last year, designed primarily to focus on the finance sector through low-latency services.

Interxion’s AMS7 data centre is the home to finance, media and cloud customers, which falls exactly in line with Telstra Global’s key focus areas.

Jim Clarke, head of global wholesale at Telstra Global, said: “Telstra have differentiated offerings for vertical segments, and Interxion’s strong presence in financial, media and cloud communities make them a valuable partner for our go-to-market strategy in Europe.
