Oi selects NSN to enhance Brazilian connectivity
29 October 2013 |
Oi Brasil has partnered with Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) for the deployment of the operator’s LTE network in Brazil.
The equipment vendor will supply all infrastructure for the roll-out, and will also upgrade Oi’s GSM and 3G networks across the country.
Oi’s 4G LTE network is designed to allow users in the region to experience significantly enhanced mobile broadband services, through the introduction of additional data services and applications.
Under the terms of the contract, NSN will deliver network planning and optimisation, system integration and care services for the LTE network.
NSN will also convert Oi’s existing GSM and 3G networks into single RANs using its Flexi Multiradio base station, enabling a more streamlined offering.
In August this year, On Telecom announced its commitment to developing connectivity in Brazil and highlighted 4G as its first area of interest.
