Nominum launches security service for operators

US-based security solution provider Nominum has today launched its Vantio ThreatAvert system, designed to prevent threats in fixed and mobile networks.

Vantio ThreatAvert facilitates Nominum’s Global Intelligence Xchange (GIX), a foundational security platform with real-time threat updates, which, Norminum believes, delivers far greater security than a DNS firewall as it neutralises internal threats.

The launch follows recent research showing an enormous growth in attacks on service providers which originate inside their networks.

“Service providers face more complex threats every day, which leads to a poor customer experience such as slow internet connections, outages, data exfiltration and more,” said Sanjay Kapoor, SVP of marketing and business strategy at Nominum.

The service ultimately aims to proactively stop attacks before they start, and restrain new attacks before they are able to spread.

Gary Messiana, CEO at Nominum, said that Vantio ThreatAvert is an innovative solution, design to deter these attacks and consequently increase subscriber engagement and retention.

“Service providers have a suite of solutions in place to defend their networks from external threats but a whole new level of security is required to deal with the threats now emanating from within the network,” Messiana said.
