Level 3 launches enterprise cloud solutions

Level 3 Communications has today launched its Cloud Connect Solutions, designed to allow enterprises to further integrate cloud services into their IT infrastructure.

The Cloud Connect Solutions are designed to allow global enterprises private network access to cloud and data centre services.

These services will enhance the performance of enterprise applications, while providing greater security and flexibility than the public internet.

"From performance to cost efficiency, enterprises have high expectations for cloud-based services and the network is integral to meeting those expectations," said Paul Savill, SVP of global core product management at Level 3.

"Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions deliver global network reach, with direct connections to the evolving landscape of leading cloud service providers, placing Level 3 in a strong position to help enterprise IT organisations successfully realise their cloud strategies."

To connect enterprises to these cloud and data centre services, the Cloud Connect Solutions use MPLS/IP VPN, virtual private line service, Ethernet virtual private line, Ethernet private line and wavelength services.

Level 3 also provides professional and managed services, such as consulting, implementation and monitoring.

Melanie Posey, research VP at American analysis firm IDC, said that secure, performance-optimised network connectivity is becoming an increasingly important part of an enterprises’ IT strategy, and expects Level 3’s offering to help enterprises towards this goal.

“Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions provide the flexibility and performance capabilities for enterprises to dynamically interconnect with their cloud ecosystem, enabling them to run their applications efficiently and securely,” she said.

Level 3 has been making significant headway with cloud integration and launched its own cloud-based video conferencing solution in September this year.
