Equinix acquires carrier hotel in Frankfurt

Data centre provider Equinix has acquired the Kleyer 90 carrier hotel in Frankfurt from a private investor in Berlin, Germany.

The agreement is hoped to strengthen Equinix’s position in Frankfurt – which stands as a gateway between western and eastern Europe via the DE-CIX internet exchange – and deliver greater security to Equinix customers.

The Kleyer 90 carrier hotel is home to carrier neutral co-location and interconnection service provier Ancotel, which Equinix acquired last year, and Equinix hopes the acquisition to allow for further expansion opportunities.

“The acquisition of Kleyer 90 is the natural next step following our successful integration of Ancotel last year and will give our customers greater confidence when planning ahead in this exceptionally busy network hub,” said Eric Schwartz, president at Equinix.

“We can now offer long-term continuity and room to grow, and we plan to invest in the building to enhance security and infrastructure management.”
