Virgin Media Business launches 4G mobile service on EE network

Virgin Media Business has today launched its first 4G mobile service, on the network of UK operator EE.

The service from Virgin Media Business is expected to provide enhanced mobile voice and data services for both public and private-sector organisations.

“We’re simplifying things for our customers by being the single supplier for all their telecoms needs,” said Duncan Higgins, director of products and marketing at Virgin Media Business.

“EE’s 4G experience over the past ten months clearly illustrates the benefits of the technology and their 4G network coverage is unrivalled in the UK.”

Higgins believes mobile communications are essential for companies to grow and hopes the service from Virgin Media Business will enhance existing connectivity, reduce costs and enable a secure mobile platform.

“Companies are increasingly looking for a service provider that can help them build mobility throughout their organisations, so that they can implement more flexible working, bring efficiencies into their field organisations and extend applications to mobile devices,” said Pauline Trotter, analyst at Ovum.

EE and Virgin Mobile were in discussions last weekover the potential renewal of a contract to deploy a telecoms network, worth up to £400 million.
