MEF appoints new director of communications

The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) has appointed Stan Hubbard as director of communications and research.

Previously a senior analyst for Carrier Ethernet at the Heavy Reading research facility, Hubbard will be responsible for developing and communicating the MEF’s initiatives to the industry.

“The MEF is widely recognised as one of the most effective and collegial organisations in the industry, with an aspirational vision to transform the world of communications through continual innovation and accelerated adoption of carrier Ethernet services and networking technologies," said Hubbard.

"I am delighted to join and look forward to working closely with the growing list of MEF member companies, CE 2.0-certified service providers and equipment vendors, and CE-certified professionals.”

Hubbard has 16 years of experience in industry analysis, forecasting and strategic marketing – nine of them spent at Heavy Reading and seven at Ciena as director of market intelligence.

“[Hubbard] has a formidable reputation in the industry and is known for his in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Carrier Ethernet services and technology markets,” said Kevin Vachon, COO at MEF.

In July this year, the MEF awarded its first CE 2.0 certification to Fibrenoir, a Canadian telecoms provider.
