Vodafone overhauls European operations

Vodafone has announced it is restructuring its European operations, including changes to senior management, in a bid to help it streamline efficiency and realise its 2015 strategy.

Its northern, central and eastern European divisions will be merged to create one unit, while Turkey will move from Europe to report from its Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific arm.

A chief commercial and operations officer role will be created and assumed by Paolo Bertoluzzo, CEO of southern Europe and head of Vodafone Italia. Philipp Humm, the CEO for central and eastern Europe, will become CEO of Europe.

Vittorio Colao, chief executive, was reported to have said that the changes "will allow [Vodafone] to improve the customer experience and develop commercial strategy more quickly and consistently."

The changes are expected to be made this October, and follow reports earlier this month that the company’s financial results had been hit by weak European conditions.
