SES taps into Indonesia’s DTH market

SES will provide capacity to Indonesian pay-TV provider MNC Sky Vision on its SES-7 satellite.

Under the multi-year deal, SES will provide MNC’s brand, Indovision, with access to Ku-band capacity as the broadcaster prepares to launch 12 Chinese language channels.

The move hopes to support Indovision’s Chinese-language direct-to-home (DTH) transmission, which is expected to add to its existing two million subscriber base.

Deepak Mathur, senior VP commercial, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East at SES, said: “The increasing maturity of the Indonesian pay-DTH market requires pay-TV operators to react swiftly in meeting the demands of different audience segments, as Indovision has done with the new Chinese-language pay-DTH offering.”

The SES-7/Indostar-II satellite offers capacity to DTH and VSAT operators in the southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific regions.

SES signed an increased capacity deal in May with Central European operator, Telekom Srbija.
