Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas strike network-sharing deal

Vodafone’s Greek division has signed a 15-year agreement with Wind Hellas to share 2G and 3G networks.

Vodafone Greece tried to merge with the Greek operator last year, but abandoned the plan in February 2012 following reported concerns from European regulators.

Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas rank second and third, respectively, in the Greek market, and the deal is expected to enhance connectivity in rural areas of the country, and some urban areas, as well as reduce costs for Vodafone.

Vodafone Greece will continue to operate its 4G network in the country.
