Aylesbury, Berkhamsted, Billericay, Blackpool, Brentwood, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Lytham St Annes, Marlow, Pontefract, Thame and Windsor are all expected to have access to the superfast mobile network by the end of today.
“Our 4G network roll-out is ensuring that we’re connecting people right across the UK to one of the fastest mobile networks in the world, as quickly as possible,” said Olaf Swantee, CEO at EE.
“Consumers and businesses in the UK use mobile internet more than any other market and we’re working to meet that demand right across the country.”
The addition brings the total number of towns and cities in the UK benefitting from 4G to 62, and the company expects to grow this number to 80 by the end of June, and cover 70% of the population by the year end.
The expansion follows EE’s plans at the end of last yearto roll out 4G to a further 17 towns by March 2013, and earlier this year, the company also announced plans to double the speed and capacity of its 4G serviceby the end of 2013.
“We’ll roll out 4G to 98% of people in 2014, including the double-speed 4G that will launch this summer,” Swantee added.
The 4G service allows mobile customers instant web access when travelling, meaning they benefit from advantages such as streaming live TV, downloading large files and playing live multiplayer games.
