France Telecom receives offer for Dailymotion

Vivendi has made an undisclosed offer for France Telecom’s video-sharing service, Dailymotion, according to Reuters.

Yahoo! had previously been in talks with France Telecom over a majority stake in Dailymotion, but following government intervention, the talks fell through.

According to a local news website, a consortium including Xavier Niel; founder of Iliad, Matthieu Pigasse; banker at Lazard and industrialist Pierre Berge, has also made a bid, but at a much lower price than Yahoo!

Vivendi decline to comment on the offer, and earlier this month, the company was said to be considering the floatation of its mobile unit SFR to address debts.
