Orange Romania looks to obtain permission for satellite space

Orange Romania has requested permission from Romania’s National Audiovisual Council (CNA) to transmit 13 TV channels via satellite.

According to local reports, the company proposes to transmit the channels from Issy Les Moulineaux in France, and is expecting a response from the CNA in the coming weeks.

To receive approval, Orange Romania is required to inform the CNA of their offers structure of transmitted programmes.

If approved, the company will be in line with operators such as Romtelecom and UPC Romania which dominate the satellite television market in the country.

In September 2012, Orange Romania reportedly took part in the primary rounds of a spectrum auction in the country.
