Tele2 Netherlands delays 4G network

Tele2 Netherlands will delay the launch of a 4G network until 2014, a company spokesperson told reporters.

The company won mobile spectrum in an auction late last yearand a launch-date for 4G services had initially been set for 2013.

The roll-out is now delayed “by a few quarters” according to the source.

Establishing a high-quality network and improving end-user experience is reportedly higher up in the company’s priorities than being first-to-market with the 4G service.

Tele2 Netherlands has a fibre network and a functioning core network, but is said to be looking at locations for a mobile network in the 800MHz and 2.6GHz bands.
