The operator has contracted NSN to deploy a 3G radio network on the 900MHz band, updating its core infrastructure to an all-IP network in an effort to improve its network performance. NSN will add radio modules in its existing base stations to complement 3G services on 2100MHz bandwidth.
The deal is worth a reported $68.71 million, with work set to be completed by the second half of 2013.
“With this latest investment, our customers can look forward to a better mobile experience and coverage,” said Patrick Scodeller, chief operating officer at M1, in the statement.
