CEO Gary Kovacs will be leaving his position but is set to remain as a member of the board of directors.
Upon his departure as CEO, Kovacs said he is proud of the team’s accomplishments in his two and a half year period in the role.
“In our mission to empower the next two billion Web users, we’ve made great advances in desktop and mobile and in our ability to lead at the pace of the market,” he said.
“With this solid foundation and a strong team in place, this is the right time for me to announce the transition plan and a vote of confidence in the abilities of the leadership team. I am grateful for the privilege of leading this organisation during this period of rapid growth, and I look forward to helping guide Mozilla’s impact on the future of mobile.”
Other changes to the team include the appointment of Jay Sullivan as SVP of products, Mitchell Baker as executive chair and Harvey Anderson as SVP of business and legal affairs.
At Mobile World Congress earlier this year, Mozilla announced that it was a fully mobile operation with commitments from over 20 partners to bring devices to market, and the company hope its reshuffle will further support this strategy.
