Thuraya strikes broadband deal

Mobile satellite operator, Thuraya Telecommunications Company and OneAccess have announced a partnership to provide users of Thuraya IP terminals with tailored broadband solutions.

The partnership will provide all Thuraya IP terminals with access to faster VPN via an advanced router, as well as a balanced video stream to be transmitted in high-quality real time.

“Today’s mobile worker, whether in the corporate or media sector, demands secure, high-speed connection coupled with the ability to transfer and transmit files without sacrificing workload capacity through their IP terminals,” said Ahmed AL Shamsi, CTO at Thuraya.

“Thuraya and OneAccess recognise this and have developed these solutions to enhance IP performance to support the needs of our users.”

Thuraya IP terminals will also benefit from enhanced surfing speeds which are expected to decrease page loading times by up to 75%.

“Through our partnership with Thuraya, we have developed practical solutions based on feedback derived from the end-users,” said Bertrand Meis, CEO at OneAccess.

“While we have the expertise in software development, Thuraya has the capacity to accelerate these solutions to market in a very timely manner.”

Thuraya partnered with Softbank Mobile for satellite services in Japan in December last year.
