Russia’s MegaFon has reportedly completed repairs on its cellular towers damaged by a meteor shower near the city of Chelyabinsk in the Urals region last week.

The event, which drew worldwide attention, also damaged windows and buildings in the area and injured hundreds of people.

MegaFon spokeswoman, Yulia Dorokhina, told Prime-Tass business news agency that communications had been fully restored after around 15% of the carrier’s base stations in the area were damaged.

The carrier’s customers had been allowed by regulators to use emergency roaming on other networks until service was restored.
