Pacnet enhances CDN PoPs in China

Hong Kong-based Pacnet has enhanced its CDN platform through the addition of two new CDN PoPs in China to increase speed and performance of content delivery in the country.

Located in Guangzhou and Tangshan, the new PoPs will provide coverage of both the northern and southern regions of China, and strategically situated close to the major cities of Beijing and Shanghai where most of the country’s digital content is consumed.

“As more internet users come online in China, the country’s insatiable thirst for digital content is expected to continue to grow at high rates,” said Jim Fagan, president of managed services at Pacnet. “These two new PoPs are key to our strategy to capitalise on that increasing demand.”

Pacnet has been able to develop CDN reach across Asia-Pacific through deployments in India, Korea and Taiwan, adding to the company’s four CDN PoPs in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Pacnet now has nine managed CDN PoPs in the region, and are able to deliver digital content in local markets.

Across Europe and the US, Pacnet has partnered with CDN federations, giving it access to a total of 42 PoPs worldwide.
