TeliaSonera partners with Infinera for network upgrade

TeliaSonera International Carrier has selected Infinera’s DTN-X platform with Instant Bandwidth solution to deliver 100Gbps optical transport capacity across its North American network.

The agreement marks the first deployment of DTN-X with Instant Bandwidth worldwide and will enable the carrier to offer 100Gbps bandwidth on demand while also lowering operational costs.

The solution will be deployed across TeliaSonera’s network in the region, which reaches 35 PoPs over 18,000km of fibre.

“Infinera’s DTN-X with Instant Bandwidth gives us a competitive edge enabling significantly shorter customer delivery times for 100G services and allows us to offer one of the most advanced and scalable networks in North America,” said Erik Hallberg, president of TeliaSonera International Carrier.

The agreement also coincides with the launch of the Instant Bandwidth product, which is designed to allow network operators to rapidly deploy bandwidth in 100Gbps increments without the wait times associated with provisioning equipment.

“As TSIC continues to grow its business, Instant Bandwidth on DTN-X provides a flexible infrastructure, one-click capacity and lower operational costs as they face increasing demands for bandwidth in a more competitive environment,” said Chris Champion, VP of EMEA sales at Infinera.

TeliaSonera’s selection of Infinera’s platform builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies, which began with 10G deployments in 2009.
