As we make our way into the final quarter of the year, some carriers have yet to release their third quarter financial results, including the likes of KPN, AT&T and Rogers. In KPN’s case, the difficult economic situation in the Eurozone and year-on-year revenue declines for the second quarter suggest there may be more gloom to come on October 23. For AT&T and Rogers, rising wireless data revenue is expected to contribute to overall revenue growth, with all to be revealed on October 24.

Elsewhere, the Dutch spectrum auction is due to take place on October 31, and its reservations for new entrants could lead to a potential shake up of the mobile market similar to that seen in France. Spectrum in the 800MHz to 2600MHz range will be auctioned with three reserved blocks for new players. Existing operators KPN, T-Mobile and Vodafone are all likely bidders, with cable operators Ziggo and UPC deemed potential new entrants having formed a consortium previously to bid on frequencies.
