CenturyLink subsidiary Savvis has made its first data centre expansion into continental Europe with the opening of a site in Frankfurt, Germany.

The Frankfurt data centre offers co-location, managed services, cloud computing and network services and is situated within the city’s financial district.

Savvis customers in Frankfurt will gain low latency market access to more than 150 global and local carriers, as well as the trading systems of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The company will also offer dedicated private cloud services and plans to launch its virtual private data centre public cloud services in early 2013.

"There's strong demand for Savvis' unmatched cloud, managed services and co-location solutions in continental Europe," said Donald Badoux, MD at Savvis Germany. "Frankfurt is an important market for regional and international enterprises seeking the types of scalable, cost-efficient and flexible IT solutions that we offer."

The Frankfurt data centre complements Savvis’ four sites in the UK and 50 sites worldwide.
