Vodafone has selected Ericsson to upgrade its mobile sites in Egypt.
The vendor’s RBS 6000 technology will be utilised for the deployment, which will allow Vodafone to meet growing subscriber demand and maintain coverage quality. RBS 6000 supports GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and LTE services, enabling a transition to 4G in the future.
"Vodafone in Egypt is witnessing a major upsurge in both voice and data services, and to ensure we provide the best experience to our customers we need to keep investing in the latest technology innovations with our partner, Ericsson,” said Tony Dolton, CTO of Vodafone Egypt. “We are delighted that signing this agreement demonstrates our commitment to giving our customers the best possible experience.”
The deployment builds upon a long standing relationship between Vodafone and Ericsson, and is claimed to minimise operational expenses and reduce environmental impact.
