Dish Network aims to launch wireless broadband network

US satellite TV broadcaster Dish Network is reportedly seeking permission from the US Federal Communications Commission (FFC) to build a wireless broadband network.

The company has specifically requested for the FCC to approve the use of its wireless spectrum from satellite company TerreStar Networks, which was purchased by Dish Network last year following its bankruptcy.

If successful, Dish Network will join a growing number of US cable providers that have made significant investments in telecoms infrastructure in order to compete more effectively through bundle packages.
