Deutsche Telekom’s Polish operator rebrands as T-Mobile

Deutsche Telekom’s Polish operator, Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC), plans to rebrand it’s mobile arm, Era under the T-Mobile brand.

PTC CE Miroslav Rakowski reportedly said the rebranding of the company would cost an estimated $36.3 million.

Deutsche Telekom founded PTC in 1995 and since then has been trying to gain a majority stake in the company. Reuter’s reported that the German operator paid $1.8 billion for opposition Vivendi to back down. The rebranding can move forward after Deutsche Telekom became the sole owner of PTC at the beginning of this year.

Roland Mahler, chief regional officer Europe at Deutsche Telekom explained that PTC is Deutsche Telekom’s second biggest mobile firm in Europe outside Germnay. "Poland's mobile communications market presents solid opportunities for future growth to be taken advantage of - it is the biggest in Central and Eastern Europe and is still expanding,“ he said.

The rebranding process is predicted to last several months during which PTC will continue to operate under the current company name.
