Global SPSR market shows growth in Q3 2010

Cisco made the largest share gain in the global service provider switching and routing (SPSR) market in Q3 2010 according to analyst group Ovum.

The British-owned company experienced a 0.5% gain over the period. Cisco’s continued revenue growth was attributed to product traction and the gradual recovery of SPSR in all markets.

The second largest share gain was made by Huawei, which made approximately 0.1%, mainly on the strength of the Chinese market. Ericsson made the greatest loss in shares due to product competition and the sudden rush by operators into mobile infrastructure.

The SPSR market made an overall revenue gain of 23% in Q3 2010 compared to Q3 2009, and a sequential gain of 5%. The main concern is on macroeconomic recovery due to the market’s slow and uneven recovery rate. Ovum predicts that SP IP routing and Ethernet switching will continue to grow and facilitate a more stable recovery.
