Recent appointments



AT&T has appointed Andrew Edison as head of business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He has a range of experience with AT&T’s operations in Europe and the US in sales, operation and management positions and most recently he was vice president of global operations planning for business solutions. He will be driving expansion of AT&T’s global business.





Mervyn Kelly
has been appointed as marketing director for EMEA at Ciena. With a background in microelectronic engineering, Kelly will cover the company’s transport, switching and carrier Ethernet technologies. He has over 20 years of telecoms experience and has held senior management positions in the industry covering carrier Ethernet, optical, fibre-to-the-home and IP routing.




Tony Bates has been appointed CEO and a member of the board of directors at Skype. He joins the internet communication provider from Cisco, where he was general manager of Cisco’s enterprise, commercial and small business division. Bates has over 20 years of leadership experience in the internet industry, including roles at Youtube, Tokbox, Bubblemotion and Lovefilm.




M2M specialists Comms365 have appointed Stratic Scleparis as chairman. He will be responsible for maximizing niche markets and work on the company’s technical roadmap. Scleparis has previously held CTO roles at BT, Freeserve and the BBC. Mike van Bunnens, MD at Comms365 said: “Bringing on board someone with Stratis’ experience was the next logical step.”
