An email sent to all employees from the HR department said that employees must show proof of vaccination by February 21, and those that aren’t full vaccinated will be put on unpaid leave.
"Employees who have not yet taken action to receive their first dose and upload proof by February 21 will be placed on unpaid leave," the blog quoted the memo as saying.
"Affected employees who do not become fully vaccinated ... by April 2 will be separated from T-Mobile."
The email adds that employees working in “Customer Experience Centres”, which are call centres and support reps will not be put on unpaid leave during the transitional period.
This is because T-Mobile wants to avoid losing critical support staff that handles customer care and tech support for the company but these employees must still be vaccinated by the April 2 deadline.
While these measures are in place for corporate employees, there isn’t an update on whether the company is planning to extend this requirement to its frontline workers.
T-Mobile is allowing exemption requests for medical or religious reasons and employees that submit a request for exemption will not be held to the same deadlines while their exemption status is pending or if it has been approved.
T-Mobile joins a growing list of companies implementing similar policiesincluding MTN who told its employees last month that they must be vaccinated against Covid-19 if they are to work on its premises.
