Telecoms fraud expert Jaime Zetterstrom has joined Somos, the company that runs North American numbering.

Zetterstrom (pictured), who has been a member of Somos’s advisory board since 2016, will be VP of product management, said the company.

Michelle Larsen, senior VP and chief experience officer at Somos, said: “Having Jaime on the team is a big win as we continue to pursue our mission of finding new and innovative ways to keep communication safe, secure and trustworthy.”

Somos, which last year bought UK-based numbering specialist XConnect, is the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (Nanpa) under a contract awarded by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 2018. It also runs neutral toll-free numbering and registry administration services for the industry.

The company said that Zetterstrom will “lead the product vision for Somos’s portfolio of solutions to ensure that it is aligned with the company’s overall strategic objective to deliver innovation in trusted information for global communications”.

For much of her career Zetterstrom has focused on consumer fraud protection through her involvement in groups such as the FCC’s robo calling task force, the Communication Fraud Control Association (CFCA) and the Industry Traceback Group (ITG).

She said: “To have the chance to be at the helm of developing and managing new and exciting products and solutions was an opportunity that I simply could not pass up. I have always been deeply committed to fighting and reducing fraud and restoring trust in telecom and can’t wait to continue this mission with Somos.”

Larsen added: “I have long been inspired by her commitment to consumer advocacy and empowering more trusted connections between brands, consumers and communities.”

Six of Somos’s eight leading managers are women, headed by CEO Gina Perini, and five of its eight board members are women.
