STL has announced its commitment to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030.

At the COP26 Summit last year, nations discussed the importance of urgent climate actions and several companies have committed to reducing emissions and limiting the average annual temperature rise of 1.5 degrees.

Estimates suggest that the internet and supporting components account for 3.7% of global greenhouse emissions.

And STL says it is accelerating its efforts towards net-zero manufacturing and sustainable network build strategies as a result.

Ankit Agarwal, MD of STL said: “ As STL continues to transform billions of lives through digital networks, mainstreaming climate control actions is at the core of our business practices.

“We will continue to aggressively invest in becoming a carbon-neutral company through various energy efficiency initiatives.”

Among its other commitments, the firm says it has recently achieved a landfill diversion rate of 99.97% for one of its Indian facilities and was awarded a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ (ZWL) certification for its achievement.

Over the last few years, STL has been sourcing sustainable raw materials for packaging and committed to becoming water positive by 2030.
