Telenor Group's executive leadership team has a new member following Rita Skjærvik's promotion to the role of EVP group strategy and external relation.

Skjærvik (pictured) has been with Telenor since 2014 and has headed the group's strategy and external relations since June 2020. Prior to her time at Telenor she was deputy chief of staff for the Norwegian Prime Minister and held numerous political advisory positions in Norway.

Skjærvik's promotion to Telenor's eight-person executive leadership team means the group's senior management will have equal male and female gender representation in 2022.

Sigve Brekke, Telenor Group president and CEO said of the appointment: “Rita has a solid background from public and private sector and has through various positions in both Telenor Norway and Telenor Group been instrumental in developing and implementing Telenor’s strategy and our dialogue with external stakeholders.

"Her responsibility comprises functions of vital importance to the company’s future direction and I am very pleased to have Rita as member of the Executive Management team.”

Skjærvik's appointment is effective as of 1 December, when group compliance will also fall under her remit. As of that date the leadership team will be composed of four women and four men:

  • Sigve Brekke, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

  • Tone Hegland Bachke, EVP and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

  • Cecilie Blydt Heuch, EVP and Chief People & Sustainability Officer

  • Jørgen C. Arentz Rostrup, EVP and Head of Telenor Asia

  • Petter-Børre Furberg, EVP and CEO of Telenor Norway
