eir Ireland has extended its partnership with NTT by a further three years as it looks to retire its legacy applications and shift to open-source technology.

The two have already collaborated for 13 years, with NTT providing a variety of services for the Irish telco and leading several digital transformation projects.

NTT told Capacity that under the new agreement, it will help reduce eir’s operation and run costs as the telco moves to new infrastructure. eir will be using NTT DATA shared service centres to focus on maintenance.

The agreement will offer 24/7 support of more than 50 applications, 24/7 support of the infrastructure in data centres, running the security operations centre and an IT helpdesk for eir’s more than 2,000 employees. Brian Chapman, CIO at eir Ireland, commented, “From wide-ranging IT support to running our help desk, we see NTT DATA UK as an extension of our team at eir.

“The team – whose expertise has been invaluable to us – has integrated with our internal processes and employees incredibly smoothly.”

Most recently, eir Ireland awarded NTT Data UK the managed services contract of its IT operations to streamline and improve eir’s existing legacy applications and infrastructure.
