Civo has unveiled a new region in Germany for its Kubernetes-focused cloud services platform, adding to the existing regions in the US and the UK.

The platform launched in May 2021, and the company says it has seen “strong demand” from users from over 130 countries – with Germany accounting for nearly 5% of its user base.

This new region in Frankfurt will enhance the operational experience for European users, said the firm. It is planning a further region in Asia later this year, with another five regions planned across the world in 2022.

Softbank-backed THG Ingenuity recently invested £1.4 million in Civo. As part of the investment THG Ingenuity became Civo’s exclusive data centre hosting and enterprise sales partner, “accelerating the roll-out of Civo regions to data centres and large development teams around the world”, the partners said.

Mark Boost, CEO of Civo, said of the new cloud region: “Frankfurt strengthens Civo's offering across the globe and provides companies in Germany and the European Union with a lower latency connection to our leading cloud native hosting service.

“We continue to lead the way with a cloud-native first approach and simple billing model, which reduces the complexity of running Kubernetes and lowers the costs for companies looking to move to a cloud-native future,” said Boost.
