ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Thailand has officially opened its hyperscale data centre in Bangkok.

STT Bangkok 1 is the first of two buildings in the STT Bangkok Data Centre Campus, which is strategically located at Hua Mak, one of Bangkok's business districts.

The seven-storey building offers a gross floor area of 323,000 sq ft and delivers up to 20MW of total IT load capacity, with the ability to scale to 40MW.

Supparat Singhara Na Ayutthaya, chief executive officer of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Thailand), said: “The launch marks the first milestone for our company and a new era of digital infrastructure in Thailand.

“We are seeing fast-growing demand for colocation services in Thailand from enterprises and cloud service providers that are continually expanding their business platforms to meet customers' evolving demand for digital services, particularly during this prolonged COVID-19 situation.”

Clement Goh, CEO for Southeast Asia at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, added: “We had identified Thailand to be a market ready for growth and decided to invest ahead of the curve to ensure we have a well-established presence, and are now poised for that growth.”

The new facility is Tier 3- and LEED-certified. The group also has data centres in Singapore, the UK, India, China, South Korea and Indonesia.
