Altice USA confirms the restructuring of its senior leadership team following the resignation of Hakim Boubazine, chief operating officer and president of telecommunications.

As a result, effective immediately, Dexter Goei Altice USA's CEO, will assume direct responsibilities for the telecommunications division. In turn, Boubazine will serve as senior advisor to the CEO until his departure on 31 December 2021.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Hakim, and I want to thank him for the critical role he has played over the last six years at Altice USA," said Goei.

"We appreciate the time he will serve as a senior advisor and wish him much success in his future endeavours.”

In addition, Altice USA has an experienced senior telecoms management team in place who will now report directly to Goei. The new management structure is designed to accelerate the company’s growth initiatives and enhance the day-to-day management decision-making processes.

“Working at Altice USA has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career, and I could not be prouder of what we accomplished together," said Boubazine.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve such an innovative, entrepreneurial, and inclusive organisation, and I want to thank Patrick Drahi and Dexter for their trust over the years. I have the utmost confidence in the entire Altice USA management team for achieving future success.”

In related news June saw Patrick Drahi’s Next Alt S.à r.l, through its subsidiary Altice UK, acquire a 12% stake in UK incumbent telco, BT, valued at approximately £2.2 billion ($3.1 billion).

Altice UK, the company specially set up for this acquisition, said that it “…holds the board and management team of BT in high regard and is supportive of their strategy. Altice UK has informed the BT board that it does not intend to make a takeover offer for BT. A key issue now is how Altice intends to unlock value."

Altice also hinted that it would be encouraging BT to spin off its subsidiary Openreach, its independent infrastructure unit.
