XConnect and Odine partner on number intelligence solution

XConnect and Odine Solutions have partnered to reduce disputes and stop losses from Origin Based Rating (OBR).

Under the terms of the partnership, XConnect will combine its Global Number Range data with Odine’s Orion Advanced end to end voice management solution, which together will pre-validate A and B numbers and save on costs in surcharges, to maximise carrier profit margins.

“OBR has the potential to impact the business of any carrier that terminates international voice traffic. With OBR gradually increasing across continents, we’re finding customers are unwilling to take the risk on terminating to certain routes – losing revenue thanks to fear of surcharges,” said Eli Katz (pictured), CEO and founder at XConnect.

“Together with Odine Solutions, we enable carriers to minimise the risk of OBR to their margins and ensure their business is ready to adapt without making significant changes to existing systems. Mitigating OBR is critical for carriers of all sizes, so it’s time to take action now.”

At present, OBR takes the origination and termination of a call into account when billing. Based on the country of the call’s origin, the terminating network may apply a surcharge to the mobile termination rates. Unexpected surcharges are common and can reach up to 35x the standard termination rate in some cases.

In response, XConnect and Odine customers can use global numbering plan data to create a technology roadmap to carry out switching, accounting and fraud management as OBR and differentiated rates become more prevalent.

The solution enables carriers gain higher margins, accurately price services, create new business, reduce resources spent on disputes and route traffic.
