Aligned is expanding its presence in the Salt Lake City metro market area with the development of its third build-to-suit data centre campus.

Aligned opened its second data centre in the market during the first quarter of this year and is already planning the opening of a third data centre later this year.

The Aligned SLC-04 campus combines the company’s patented Delta3 cooling technology with a waterless heat rejection system.

The capacity of SLC-04 has so far not been confirmed. The recently opened SLC-02 facility has 48MW of power and is expandable to 60MW. SLC-01 delivers up to 34MW of capacity.

Andrew Schaap (pictured), CEO of Aligned, said: “In addition to speed and scale, the latest development also satisfies our customer’s requirement for water conservation, while still delivering industry-leading power usage effectiveness (PUE).

“Combined with our ultra-efficient Delta3 cooling technology, Utah’s cold desert climate enables us to deliver a waterless data centre solution,” said Schaap.

The customer of the latest build has not been revealed. Last month, the company secured an extra $250 million in sustainability-linked debt, with the interest rates linked to set ESG goals.
