Frontier Communications has announced plans to expand its full fibre network in Connecticut.

Overall, the expansion is due to deliver ultra-fast speeds and reliable broadband connectivity to an additional 280,000 consumers in 2021, as the initial phase of its multi-year expansion project.

“This infrastructure investment stems from Frontier’s belief that access to high-speed broadband is critical to building a digital society, enhancing community inclusion, and helping the environment,” said Julie Murtagh, senior vice president of Frontier’s Connecticut operations.

“I am confident communities will see Frontier in a new way once they experience the power of fibre-optic technology.”

Frontier's FiberOptic Internet boasts what it calls Gig-level service with high-speed downloads and uploads approximately 25 times faster than its competitors in Connecticut.

In addition, it provides reliable connections that let customers download a full HD movie in minutes, update a smartphone's operating system in seconds, video-chat in ultra-high definition, game, to name a few.

“Best of all, Frontier’s Gig service can support multiple devices and users in the same household, without restrictive data caps," added Murtagh.

"For businessesa range of speed tiers support multiple users, e-commerce, high-volume point-of-sale transactions, and smooth videoconferencing.”

New Frontier FiberOptic service will be rolled out to a growing number of locations. It is already available to the communities where fibre expansion is underway including; Andover, Ansonia, Bethel, Bloomfield, Bolton, Branford, Bridgeport, Bristol, Cheshire, Coventry, Danbury, Derby, East Haven, Enfield, Farmington, Hamden, Hartford, Hebron, Manchester, Marion, Meriden, Middletown, Middletown , Milford, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Newington, North Haven, Norwalk, Norwich, Plainville, Plantsville, Quaker Hill, Rockfall, Shelton, Southington, Stamford, Trumbull, Uncasville, Vernon, Rockville, Wallingford, Waterford, West Hartford, West Haven, Wethersfield, and Woodbridge.

In related news, earlier this year Scott Beasley was named as Frontier Communications' new CFO following the resignation of Sheldon Bruha.

Bruha left the company effective 14 June and as his replacement, Beasley will report to president and CEO Nick Jeffery, the former CEO of Vodafone UK who himself was appointed in December.
