Nearly 12 months on from its win at the 2020 Global Carrier Awards, Capacity looks back on the progress Amdocs has made with its eSIM Cloud.

Winner of the Best IoT Initiative, at the 2020 virtual ceremony Amdocs’ winning solution was described as having “…skyrocketed to the top of our judges’ rankings for its very impressive eSIM milestones. Our Judges described the company’s work – and I quote – as “truly excellent, important and very significant for IoT - the holy grail of eSIM””.

Since then, December saw Telefónica subsidiary, Telefónica Movistar Chile extend its multi-year partnership with Amdocs including the launch of its cloud-based, digital eSIM management solution.

“Telefónica Movistar Chile is a digital pioneer, focused on agility and outstanding customer experience,” said Gil Rosen, CMO of Amdocs and general manager of amdocs:next, at the time.

The Software-as-a-Service-based eSIM platform is pre-integrated with eSIM device manufacturers, delivering seamless and intuitive eSIM activation and digital lifecycle management while lowering total cost of ownership.

“With one of the most advanced, SaaS-based eSIM platforms in the market, Amdocs is supporting the industry and leaders, such as Telefónica Movistar Chile, as it moves to an all-digital experience and gains faster time to market as more and more new mobile devices hit the market and IoT manufacturers adopt the eSIM standard.”

Most recently, February saw Israelian telco, Cellcom chose Amdocs’ eSIM platform for the commercial launch of eSIM-enabled devices in its market.

Deployable on both private and public clouds, the platform will enable Cellcom to enhance its customer experience by enabling operations to be fully digital, and services to be delivered to customers remotely across any eSIM-enabled device.

“Cellcom, which is at the forefront of technology, is continually investing in advanced cloud-based solutions in order to provide its customers with an advanced experience anytime and anywhere. With Amdocs’ eSIM cloud platform, Cellcom is now able to offer its customers equipped with eligible eSIM-enabled devices, the ability to quickly register and onboard new services without the need for delivery and insertion of physical SIM cards,” said Victor Malka, CIO at Cellcom.

“Amdocs has long been a trusted partner for Cellcom, and this latest partnership will enable us to leverage its continued commitment to innovation in the area of eSIM and brings the latest technologies and benefits to our customers.”

Overall, the company has also reported strong financial results reporting £1.086 billion in the first fiscal quarter of 2021 (December 31, 2020). This up $33 million from the fourth fiscal quarter of 2020.
