Named one of Forbes’ “30 under 30 – energy”, Alexandra Rasch is a CEO busy innovating in the telecoms energy space.

“Being a CEO requires an incredible amount of commitment, hard work and accountability. My days are long but I love the work that I do,” she says.

A typical day in her world starts before 6am with exercise as an early morning priority, “to make sure it gets done”.

“Most days are back-to-back meetings with customers, prospective customers, investors and team leads,” she continues. “In between meetings, I’m answering time-sensitive emails and prioritising the most time-sensitive challenges.”

Hectic days aside, Rasch describes herself as a great lover of the outdoors, especially on the water – a fact that she attributes to her upbringing.

“I founded Caban Systems because I’m an environmentalist passionate about tackling the issues plaguing climate change. Growing up in Guatemala I was inspired by the natural beauty of the ecosystem in the area.” As such, outside of the workplace you can find her surfing, boxing or hiking through a remote destination.

“I also have a voracious appetite for reading philosophy and learning about new clean technologies that are being used

to fight climate change,” she says.

Adding to her list of accolades, 2020 saw Rasch named Rising Star winner at the Global Women in Telco & Tech Awards.

Speaking about her experience in the space that often leaves her as the only woman in room, she says: “My experience in the telecommunications industry has been the same. I have never thought of myself as a minority.

“Instead, what I’ve found to be highly effective is to have a strong sense of self. When I remember who I am and why I am here, I am able to walk into any room and communicate my message effectively.”

With a presence across central America and the US, the roadmap for the company for the next 12 months is to expand.

“We are deploying systems across more than 10 countries, pursuing new target markets and preparing for new product launches. It’s going to be a busy and exciting year,” she says.
