BAI Communications has promoted Malcolm Keys to the position of group business development director.

Joining BAI in 2005 as director of telecommunications and IT, Keys previously headed the firm's business development in Europe and prior to that was CEO of BAI's JV with Airwave Solutions, where he was responsible for BAI’s market entry into the emergency services telecommunications market.

During his time with the firm, Keys has been an advocate for youth and diversity in the industry and supported BAI’s partnership with Generating Genius, a London based charitable organisation aimed at supporting talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to realise their potential in STEM subjets.

Before joining BAI, Malcolm held various executive positions with leading ICT companies such as Crown Castle International and Digital Equipment Corporation.

He said: “This is the perfect time to strengthen our market engagement and business development capability, as BAI gears up to expand its reach in Europe and North America. We have a great opportunity to create a global showcase of our expertise and the innovation that already underpins BAI’s success delivering major infrastructure projects. As our customers share common technology and economic challenges, I am keen to develop our future product offerings to solve these problems and position BAI as the long-term partner of choice for both government and telecommunications enterprises.”

Reporting to group CCO Andrew McGrath, Keys will take responsibility for driving customer acquisition, revenue and profitability goals, including new product offerings, such as 5G IoT solutions for industry, and assessing new market development and entry.

McGrath said: “I’m excited that such an experienced and skilled leader in the telecommunications industry can be appointed from within BAI.  Malcolm is an outstanding addition to the Commercial team, who will define new areas of cooperation with industry partners.”
