Verizon has appointed Jennifer Chronis to lead its public sector operation and Peter Mitchell to head Verizon Connect.

Both replace Andrés Irlando, who has left the company. Chronis (pictured), a former lieutenant colonel in the US Army, worked for IBM and Amazon Web Services (AWS) before joining Verizon last year as vice president, federal.

Now senior VP for public sector, she said: “Verizon Public Sector is uniquely positioned to deliver the technology and solutions that meet the new challenges the public sector faces. … The dedication and experience of our people, combined with Verizon’s best-in-class portfolio of solutions and services, developed specifically to meet the needs of the public sector, is unmatched.”

She reports to Verizon Business chief revenue officer Sowmyanarayan Sampath, who said: “There has never been a more critical time for solutions and services, and Jennifer has what it takes to lead this dedicated team and to be an indispensable partner for all our Verizon Public Sector customers.”

Dublin-based Mitchell was CTO of Fleetmatics, an Irish company that Verizon bought for US$2.4 billion in 2016. Verizon Connect is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) part of Verizon Business that provides fleet management services.

He is CTO, general manager and senior VP of Verizon Connect, which continues in the vehicle management field. Mitchell said: “I’m looking forward to leading this extraordinary Verizon Connect team, who are all focused partnering with our customers and delivering extraordinary solutions and experiences.”

Sampath said: “His leadership of the product and R&D team at Verizon Connect over the past five years uniquely positions him to drive continued growth and innovation in the business and deliver the essential solutions that fleet customers require to improve safety, efficiency and productivity in their businesses.”
