Sparkle has improved the coverage of its Virtual NAP service by offering access to DE-CIX locations in the United States.

Sparkle’s Virtual NAP is a turnkey solution that allows operators to access the global Internet exchange providers without having to deploy and manage a proprietary infrastructure or the need for added colocation costs.

Through this extended agreement with DE-CIX, Sparkle will offer access to the DE-CIX sites in New York and Dallas, joining the existing European DE-CIX Internet Exchanges already connected to Sparkle’s Virtual NAP.

As a result, North American ISPs, content and application providers will be able to peer with close to 350 networks connected at the DE-CIX locations in New York and Dallas.

In addition, South American operators will also be able to access these DE-CIX sites with transport solutions over Sparkle’s American backbone, a network that features the subsea cables Seabras-1 in the Atlantic and Curie in the Pacific.

At the same time, DE-CIX customers will also benefit from Sparkle’s global Tier-1 IP Transit service Seabone for global Internet connectivity. DE-CIX ‘s ecosystem will also have access to DDoS Mitigation & Cleaning solutions which gives Seabone customers the option to protect their network – and by City2City, which offers dedicated and secure transport solutions to the main urban centres worldwide.

The above mentioned DE-CIX locations in the US add to the IXPs in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Sao Paolo, Rio De Janeiro and Santiago del Chile already interconnected by Sparkle.

In related news, February saw Vero Internet, an emerging internet service provider in Brazil, selected Sparkle to provide high-speed international connectivity.

By 2023 Vero Internet plans to serve 200 municipalities by investing over R$750 million ($138 million) in network expansion, acquisitions and digital transformation.
