Data centre operator N+ONE is to launch three "latest-generation interconnected" data centres across Senegal as the country positions to become a digital hub for French-speaking West Africa.

The project, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Telecommunications, will see N+ONE partner with the General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship of Women and Youth (DER/FJ), and the Digital Technologies Park of Senegal (PTN).

In addition to supporting the digitalisation of public and private sector players, they aim to put Senegal on the map as a "digital hub in French-speaking West Africa".

Papa Amado Sir, DER/FJ General Delegate, said: "The partnership with N-ONE is part of the vision of the DER/FJ, which aims to efficiently mobilise resources to develop customized services for digital entrepreneurs and help make the ecosystem friendly to the emergence of national and regional champions."

N+ONE, the first neutral and independent data centre operator in Morocco, operates 10 facilities across multiple campuses. The new facilities will support more local enterprises to digitalise and will attract international cloud operators to deploy cloud platforms.

N+ONE founder and CEO Amine Kandil, said: "It was only natural for us to make Senegal a priority in the deployment of our continental development strategy given the strategic vision taken at the highest level of the State through the Senegal Digital Strategy Plan, the favorable regulatory environment, as well as political stability and economic dynamism, including the entrepreneurial ecosystem. These are important factors for structuring and long-term investments. We are convinced that together with our Senegalese partners, we can contribute to the development of a true digital platform with a regional vocation.”
